A New Sport, a New Path to College
With Acrobatics & Tumbling growing at the college level, programs are actively building rosters, and they recruit from cheer, gymnastics, and acro. Many families don’t realize their athlete is recruitable. Many who do don’t know where to start. Coach Renee has been a USA Gymnastics Professional Member for 35+ years and is Head Tumbling Coach of the BFLO Cheerleaders. She knows what college coaches look for and how to present an athlete so they notice.
How Renee Helps
- Recruiting readiness assessment. A skill-by-skill look at where your athlete stands against current college rosters, plus the gaps to close.
- A training plan aimed at what programs score. Private sessions focused on the skills and execution college coaches value, not just the next trick.
- Skills video. What to film, how to film it, and how to put together a short, clean recruiting video that college coaches will actually watch.
- Athlete profile. A one-page skills inventory, competition history, and academics summary to send with every email.
- Program targeting. Matching your athlete’s level, academics, and goals to schools with Acrobatics & Tumbling, gymnastics, or competitive cheer programs.
- Coach outreach. Help writing the first email, following up, and preparing for calls, visits, and tryouts.
A Typical Timeline
| Stage | Focus |
|---|---|
| Freshman / Sophomore | Build skills, start filming, learn which programs exist and what they look for |
| Junior | Finished recruiting video, active outreach to target programs, camps and visits |
| Senior | Visits, tryouts, offers, and decisions, plus any NIL opportunities that come with them |
Every athlete is different. Starting late isn’t a dealbreaker, but it does change the plan. Recruiting contact rules and calendars vary by division and sport, and Renee will help you understand the ones that apply to your athlete.
Frequently Asked Questions
When should my athlete start thinking about college recruiting?
Earlier than most families expect. Freshman and sophomore years are the time to build skills, start filming, and learn which programs fit. Junior year is usually when contact with college coaches picks up. Renee will look at your athlete's grade, level, and goals and give you a realistic timeline.
Can a cheerleader or acro dancer be recruited for Tumbling & Acrobatics?
Yes. Acrobatics & Tumbling programs recruit from cheer, gymnastics, and acro backgrounds. Strong tumbling, clean basics, and the ability to learn partner and pyramid skills matter more than which sport an athlete came from.
Does Coach Renee guarantee a scholarship or roster spot?
No. Nobody honest can. What Renee gives you is an honest evaluation, a training plan aimed at what programs score, and recruiting materials that present your athlete well.
Can you help athletes outside Buffalo?
Yes. Assessments, video review, and recruiting planning all work by virtual coaching, so families anywhere in the U.S. can work with Renee.
